Berry First Birthday Prep Guide
First birthday is such a special milestone, worth a celebration, not just for the baby, but for us parents too. It’s a whole year of many firsts, sleepless nights, little giggles, and so much love. So when it came to planning my little one’s first birthday, I wanted something sweet, joyful, and easy to pull together. And a berry-themed party felt perfect. It’s cute, colorful, with simple decor and treats. In this post, I’m sharing all things berry first birthday that will help you pull an adorable birthday for your one-year-old.

Celebrating One Sweet Year – Berry Style
A berry theme is a popular first birthday theme, and why not? It is such a cute and sweet way to celebrate. The thing that I like about this birthday is the fresh, fun, and fruity vibes with strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. It’s easy to personalize this theme to fit your space or guest list. For the girl’s first birthday, make it all pink and strawberry. For a boy’s birthday, you can make it all blue and blueberry. Easy to theme the party food. And of course, the birthday decor. You can go from cute decor to elegant style with just a few tweaks. The mood board above will help you get the vibe.
Adorable Decor Ideas Inspired by Berries & Blooms
The first thing to consider about a birthday party theme is the decor, which just sets the mood for the party. For a berry first birthday party, you can go a few routes, either a cute farm style with a picnic or a whimsical garden vibe. With the main party color as pink or blue, blended with rustic decor like wood and wildflowers. Or you can go for a chic, elegant decor style with pink and blue as the main colors paired with golden or silver with a minimalistic, clean decor look. This birthday theme goes well with both styles. You can also keep the decor fruity and keep it gender neutral. You must get clear on the decor style you wish to go with to make planning easier.
Here are a few ideas to inspire you.
- You can hang garlands made of paper strawberries or mini pom-pom berries along tables and walls.
- Fill a small basket with real or faux berries to decorate the table and the corners of the house.
- The classic red-and-white gingham tablecloth goes well with this theme, to set the cake table or party food table to get that fresh, farm-style look.
- Add oversized strawberry and blueberry balloons; it just brings the complete party decor cohesive with the theme.
- If you are hosting the party at night, add some string lights around the party area for a cozy and whimsical look.
- Add strawberry lanterns or pink and or blue lanterns to make the space look magical.
Balloon Styling That’s Bursting with Berry Charm
Balloons make every party better, and for this theme, they can be extra fun. Here are some ways to decorate with balloons
- Berry Balloon Arch: Create an arch using red, pink, and blue balloons to resemble a giant berry patch.
- Berry-Shaped Balloons: Use specialty balloons shaped like strawberries and mix them into balloon clusters.
- Floating Berry Bunches: Tie smaller balloons together in groups of three to resemble blueberries.
- Number One Berry Balloon: Get a large number one balloon, either silver or gold, that matches the color theme you are choosing, and add 1 -3 small paper cut strawberry or other berry as you like.

- Dress the birthday star in berry color or berry-print outfits with a hat with hanging berries.
- Girls can wear a red or pink tutu dress for the birthday girl.
- Boys can wear shirts with strawberry or blueberry designs.

From My Party Notes
- When it comes to the first birthday, keep it short and sweet. Babies have their nap times, feeding routines, and limited patience. We kept the party around 1.5 to 2 hours, just enough for everyone and my daughter to enjoy.
- Keep it in an open but limited space, so that it’s easy to keep an eye on the baby.
- We used a berry-themed decor kit, which had everything required for the decor, so it was easy to decorate and saved time matching different arty decor items like balloons and banners.
- We kept the cake simple and natural. Since our daughter has just turned 1 and most guests were also in the age range of 1 to 4 years, we intentionally went with a natural, no-color frosting and cake decor with strawberries. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to go with this theme.
- We had a limited guest list, although it was that time of the world when everyone was indoors. But turned out to be in our favor, seeing many guests can overwhelm a 1-year-old.
