Decide Among Vision Board Party Ideas
Before starting with any planning on vision board party, decide the vibe of party you want to host. There are many ideas to explore. It can be a
- A girls’ night with casual, chic vibe that your girl gang will enjoy.
- An elegant gathering with drinks in pretty glasses and finger snacks along with making a vision board.
- A family gathering with cozy setup to bond followed with a
- dinner or a potluck.
- A New year party to start the new year with intention and inspiration.
I had planned a cozy gathering with my friends only but since one of the friend wanted to bring her kids along, I made some arrangements to party to make it kids-friendly and included my kids too.
Pick a Date & Send Invite
It you are planning it as a New year party you can choose the days along. But if it not specifically at that time. I think weekend night works best. We hosted it on Saturday night to make it easier for everyone to join and rest the next day, in case it gets late.
Make sure your invitation includes time and details on what the party is about as vision board party is not something most would have attended. Share clear details on if the supplies to make the vision board will be provided or they need to bring. I was going to provide all the supplies to create a vision board, so I mentioned it in the invitation along with “they are free to bring any supplies they like.” There is the invite I sent.

Gather All Vision Board Supplies
Here is everything that I made available for the party to ensure that vision board creation is easy and fun for everyone.
- Vision Board Printable Kit: I bought this vision board kit printable, it had a vision board planner along with many picture, quotes, cute stickers and affirmatios. I made multiple copies of the planner for each guest that they can use to get started.
- Craft & Vision Board Supplies: I collected all the magazines, newspapers, colors pens, glitter pens, washi tapes, scissors, glue and printout of the above printable.
- Separate Kids’ Craft Caddy: Since kids were joining. I made a separate caddy for them with colored papers, crayons, color pencils, safety scissors, old story books, old kids newspaper that we get for my kids. Lots of stickers, I bought this it had variety for all topics.
- Poster Boards: I bought white poster boards in the size 22″X28″, I was confused with multi color option but decided to go with white, as it will let the images and hand written text pop.
- Reference Printouts: I also made a print of these articles, Vision Board Themes and Vision Board Ideas for reference and inspiration. They have many specific ideas and types of vision board in case someone is clueless where to start.
Set Up Party Space
To set up the party space you need to ensure making arrangement for working space to make the vision board, a supply station for easy access to supply, food servings space and yess… some decor to get the party vibe. Let’s dive into some ideas to lit the party space.
Working Space Setup
Working space is very essential for the vision board party as that’s the core activity and everyone would like to work individually. You can go for floor seating with cushions so everyone can work comfortably or use a big table with chairs. For a girl’s night or cozy gathering, floor seating is a good idea. You can just, spread a mix of blankets and cushions.
Supply Station Setup
You can use side tables or entryway tables to arrange all the supplies. Make individual baskets for similar supplies like, one for pens, another for printouts and magazines. If you have lots of image prints you can even separate them as images, quotes, magazines, color papers, etc. A separate container for washi tapes and stickers. And one for scissors, glue sticks and clips. Label each of them and neatly arrange them next to each other.
Another, good option to avoid chaos is to make individual packs for each with scissor, color pens, glue sticks and name them with guests name and keep prints, magazines and newspaper common.
For an elegant party use metal racks or bar cart for arranging the supplies. For cozy gathering use wooden trays or baskets.
Food & Drink Space
You can use your dining table to serve and display all the food and snacks. If you are using the dinning table as work station, you can use kitchen counter top as food and drink space. For details on setting up the food table you can read my post on setting buffet food table.
Make sure to place a few bin, lined with a garbage bag to help you keep the space tidy. There will be lots of paper pieces everywhere. So one or two near the workspace where guests will be making vision boards and one near food table will be sufficient.
Decor for Vision Board Party
What’s a party without some party decor. A few minimal decor touch are sure to not be missed. You can set the mood of the space with some fairy lights and lamps for a cozy vibe. Additionally here are some ideas based on the party vibe.
For a Girl’s night party add some pink or gold or silver streamers, simple and chic. You can also for pink colored and patterned banners and tassels.
For an elegant New Year glow up party style go for a gold or silver streamers. A New year banner or banner like below that represents new journey. Paper lanterns look amazing and elegant.
For a cozy gathering without much of party decor go for playful cushions, lighting LED candles, adding flower centerpiece to make the space more welcoming.
Serve Simple Snacks & Drinks
For party food, I feel it is good to serve light and easy food. Easy snacks that guests can nibble on while working. Bit sized food would be great or something that you can serve on sticks so guests can eat without messing their vision board.
- Finger sandwiches
- Cheese and meat charcuterie
- Fruit platter
- Chips and popcorns
- Bruschetta
- Quiches
For our party I served a mix of sandwiches, mac and cheese bites, chips with dips and sweet corn salad. Since we had kids too, I was sure they will enjoy the corn salad and mac and cheese bites but you still need something sweet. So for sweets we included muffins and pistachio chocolate bites. For drinks I wanted to keep it simple and refreshing so it was classic simple homemade lemonade.
But if you are going for girl’s night style or a New year party you can up notch it with some fancy drinks like mocktails in cute glasses or sparkling juice. Or for a cozy gathering hot chocolate.
Hosting Kids at Vision Board Party
Its better to have a separate and safe space for kids, so that everyone can enjoy making vision board. Setup a small table for them at a place where you can easily keep and eye on them. Since there for few kids, I made a setup for them on floor with lap tables.
Keep their appropriate use supplies in the center for everyone to access. Before starting I explained them what a vision board is and how they can make. It tried to make them understand that it is craft of all things they want to do in the new year or Things they love to do. And that it was ok if they want to make anything else with the supplies.
As backup keep some activities handy like coloring books, blocks, board games to keep them engaged incase they want to do something else.
We took turns checking on kids and helping them with cutting or pasting.
Create Vision Board & Let the Party Begin
Once all the guests arrive you can briefly direct them to supplies and reference material for everyone to get started with making vision board. Keeping the reference material of vision board themes and ideas was very helpful for some who were feeling confused what to do. And the Vision board planning printable helped them narrow down to what they wanted.
I had kept my laptop ready incase someone want to make a digital vison board, you can also do the same. But we didn’t use it, everyone was enjoying off screen time making it with magazine cuttings.
Play some music in the background to set a fun mood and enjoy while working.
Encourage guests to take break in between to enjoy snacks and drink.
Share & Inspire & Celebrate
Once everyone make their vision boards, they can share with others and bond over common interests. Plan to keep each other accountable for the goals. No judgments, no comparisons just encouraging each other suggesting ways. If you have kids let them also share their vision boards, help and suggest them to improve in case anything is missing or falling out.
At the end everyone can just casually nibble snacks and drink, while chatting.
Give a Small Take-Home
You need not give any party favors, guest will be taking the vision board they made. But you can still end the party with a take away. I gave everyone cute small diary, it seemed useful to plan and work on their goals on vison board. To kids I gave them a small pouch with some basic stationery items.
Here are some other ideas for party favor.
- A small live plant
- New year calendar
- Edible gifts like cookies or chocolate bark
- Candles
