From My Party Notes
Here’s what we did at my cousin’s college graduation party.
- Among the many graduation party ideas we explored, we decided to go with a backyard setup that felt relaxed but still had that celebratory college vibe. We used the school colors, navy and gold, for the party decor.
- We made a memory with all his college photos that we could find, along with a memory book for everyone to write their wishes and share fun memories.
- The photo booth was a big hit. We had a DIY photo wall with string lights and a “Class of 2024” banner, and we placed a graduation cap frame nearby for group shots. We also used the memory wall as a backdrop for some photos.
- For food, we kept it simple with a mix of finger foods and a mini taco bar. There was also a graduation cake and a dessert table with cupcakes decorated with graduation cap decor. We served drinks in custom “grad 2024” mason jar sippers, which doubled as party favors.
- After some games, we dimmed the lights, and the vibe turned into a dance party under fairy lights strung across the backyard. Everyone had a blast.
- The little touches of the memory display and the casual setting were just to make him and his friends enjoy it, and they really liked it. It was a perfect celebration without being over the top.
- One tip: if you are planning an outdoor party, have a backup for the weather.
